My name is Punitha and I am a special education teacher from Singapore.
I started my career in 1988. I undertook my initial training at the National Institute of Education, Special Needs and completed my Masters program in Education, Special Needs, under the University of Southern Queensland in 2003. My working experience covers students of ages 3 through 17 years. I am passionate about working with young children and I have worked in a number of early intervention programs in both local and international special schools.
In 2001, I had the privilege of working with Suvi Pitkola at Kaleidoscope Therapy Centre as an Educational Therapist. I later joined the Young Learners Program there and helped Suvi to set up the first classrooms. It was at Young Learners I was introduced to Floortime and in 2012 I completed my basic Floortime training online.
What do I love about my job? My students! I believe that every child is unique and they have their own strengths and weakness. Strengths are what I want to focus on. I treasure being a part of a team and also enjoy supporting families of the children I work with.
I celebrate each and every one of my student’s achievements, no matter how big or small. My greatest joy is when I see my former students being successfully employed and leading a meaningful life.
