Hello, my name is Arnold and I am from Singapore.
Before becoming a special education teacher, I was an Engineer by profession. My vision changed when I encountered a young boy with autism I was tutoring who had difficulties in social interaction. Hence, I decided to make a career switch by taking a Degree in Psychology and further my education with a Master Degree in Special Education. After which, I became an Early Interventionist teaching young children with various learning needs for about 10 years.
As an educator, I firmly believed there is no one-size-fit-all approach in providing intervention to children with diversified learning needs. Hence, I am very excited to learn about DIR@/Floortime. The Floortime approach allows me to understand more about each child’s unique sensory-perceptual-motor profiles so that they can be gradually challenged and scale up their developmental milestones. My two sons have also opened up my view on play. I have learnt that it is important to healthy brain development that children from a very early age engage and interact in the world around them through play.
I would like to thank Suvi and the wonderful team of teachers and therapists for their untiring patience and guidance to me. Looking forward to working with everyone.
