Hi, my name is Laura and I am from the UK, but spent 9 years living in Geneva, Switzerland before moving to Singapore. I have been living in Singapore since 2014.
I have completed my Diploma in Special Education, and an Advanced Diploma in Autism. Having a desire to learn more, I am now studying in Malaysia for my MA (Master of Arts) in Special and Inclusive Education. My role at Mighty Oaks is currently part-time, enabling me to complete my MA whilst working. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to bring theory and practice together as I complete the course, with the goal of adding to the learning and development of the children at Mighty Oaks.
Prior to joining Mighty Oaks in 2017, I was a senior teacher at an international special needs school in Singapore for two and a half years. Before that, I was teaching English language to French children in Geneva.
Moving to Mighty Oaks is an exciting opportunity to work amongst specialists in the DIR-Floortime approach and provide support and learning to children who need that little bit more to access a mainstream curriculum. I believe in Inclusive Education and enabling children to learn to their best in the right educational environment is a wonderful feeling when this is accomplished.
