My name is Katherine and I am an Occupational Therapist from Singapore. I started my journey as an OT in 2015 with a Volunteer Welfare Organization working with children in the early intervention setting.
I really enjoy working with children as seeing the children progress and improve over time is very motivating. I love connecting deeply with every child I meet, getting down to their level to interact, knowing what they like and learning to understand their personality. Oftentimes I put on a compassionate and understanding hat, believing, supporting and adapting to each child to bring out the best in them.
The opportunity to work with children and to observe and interact with them has given me new perspectives to life. I have learned to value the simple joys and to appreciate the little things. I constantly look forward to new discoveries to help improve the lives of the little ones and the families I meet.
Enjoying my work has been a motivation for me to continuously learn and grow in my profession. I see the importance of a holistic approach in working closely with the caregivers and the other professionals involved in a child’s life.
I work at Mighty Oaks one full day per week, providing an hour of therapy for each class once a week. My first 30-minute session for each class is a gym group addressing gross motor skills, and the second 30-minute group focuses on fine motor skills and handwriting.
